Chapter Forty-Four - Chase
Willow hadn’t let go of the sketch since Milo finished. Even when we stopped and got lunch, she tucked it into her back pocket.
My wolf wanted to search the streets for him.
Willow wanted blood.
But I knew we had to tread lightly. After the sheer fear we’d seen from multiple rogues, I knew we were up against something much bigger than us.
It made me think perhaps Alpha Gerald knew more than he said but didn’t delve deeper because of who killed his wife.
I didn’t bring it up to Willow. She was already skeptical about her father. But after seeing the picture of him with the rogue, I wasn’t sure he was telling us the entire truth. I planned to ask him about it when the time was right, but I wasn't sure it would do us any good.
My phone rang an hour outside of the pack land's property.
Rex’s name showed up on the screen. Willow sat up, rubbing her eyes from falling asleep against the window. “Who is it?” she asked.
“Rex,” I said before answering it. “Hello.”
