Wolfe’s POV.
I stepped out of the conference room, my mind still buzzing with numbers and projections from the meeting. Investors were a necessary evil, but that didn’t mean I had to like them. As I made my way down the hallway toward my office, I couldn’t help but think about how much I’d rather be doing anything else—like getting a certain brunette alone for a few stolen moments. The idea was a lot more appealing than listening to another pitch about diversifying our portfolio.
After I and Makenna’s visit to her family’s home, I decided that I’d had enough of Mackenzie and had terminated her contract. Lawsuits be damned. She hadn’t approached me about it before leaving the company. I wasn’t surprised and I really didn’t care. I contacted Will to send me another accountant after explaining the situation to him.
