Makenna’s POV.
Heaving a deep breath, I lifted my hand and knocked twice on the massive oak doors. Instantly, the doors opened, revealing my parents' butler, Pierce, who had worked in the house since before Mackenzie and I were born.
He gave me a warm smile like he always did and I returned it. Honestly, he was one of the reasons I even bothered to come here at all. The man had always been so kind to me.
“Good evening, Ms Makenna. Welcome.” He said.
I gave him a playful look. “It’s been twenty-five years, Pierce. When will you stop calling me Ms?”
I removed my jacket and he took it from me, still smiling. “Never, Ms Makenna.”
“It makes me feel old.” I told him, letting my eyes roam the massive foyer. I hadn’t been here in about six months. But that was probably because my sister hadn’t come home in about six months.
“You are old, Ms Makenna.”
We both laughed and it reminded me of the old times, how Pierce would secretly sneak me up a box of chocolate mint cookies when my sister
