Third Person's POV
Catherine was stunned into silence. The unique mind-link of the werewolves allowed her to clearly sense the pain in her partner's soul.
She instinctively released calming pheromones, and the peachy sweetness mixed with Blake's surging pine scent in the air.
This was the bond unique to destined mates.
Next second, she threw herself into his arms, hugging him tightly, closing her eyes, voice trembling, "This is why you've been tolerating your uncle, right? You don't want to worry Grandpa about our relationship."
Blake nodded, gently stroking her long hair. "Yes, if it weren't for Emerson, I would have sent him back to prison long ago."
"I'm sorry." Catherine grew more sorry for him, hugging him even tighter, wishing she could share some of his burden, not wanting him to bear it all alone.
