Chapter 75 The turning tide
The weight of recent events hung heavy in the air around Eleanor and Lucas as they left the courtroom together. She looked at Lucas with a serious face, and her eyes showed that she felt both sorry and determined.
"Lucas," she said with some feeling in her voice, "I need to see Noah."
Lucas nodded, realizing that Eleanor was upset. "Of course, let's go."
Moving through the building, they got where they were going. Eleanor paused for a moment before going into Noah's hospital room when they got there. She calmed down by taking a deep breath and getting ready for the meeting. Lucas put a calming hand on her shoulder and listened as she talked.
Noah looked up from his bed as they walked into the room. When he saw Eleanor, his face lit up with relief. He forced a weak smile, even though he was in a lot of pain.
"Eleanor, you're here," he said in a raspy voice.
