Chapter 5 Feeling Valueable
After showing Eleanor to the guest room, Lucas went to his room for a few minutes. When he returned, he was holding a set of clothes, which he handed to Eleanor. She noticed that the clothes still had tags on them, indicating that they were new.
Eleanor hesitated and remarked, "You could give me something that you don't wear. I'm used to shopping at thrift stores."
Lucas took a moment to explain, his voice carrying a hint of frustration, "Listen, I offered you my place not because I think you're some low-life willing to wear my used clothes. I offered to help, not as an act of charity."
Eleanor nodded and apologized, understanding his point.
Lucas, feeling a bit exasperated, facepalmed. "There's also no need to apologize." He turned to leave the room, but Eleanor cleared her throat to get his attention.
Annoyed, Lucas asked, "What?"
Eleanor raised her shoulders, showing her earnestness. "You must be hungry. Can I make something for you?"
