”I’m fine, I’m fine. I’m alright now. Don’t worry, Mom.” Willow went over to Lara and patted her on the back to soothe her.
Lara knew that Willow was just acting tough so she wouldn’t have to worry.
Lara wiped her tears and said, “Alright, as long as you’re okay. Be careful so you don’t get hurt again.”
Then, she got up and returned to the kitchen dejectedly.
What could she do despite knowing that her daughter was just putting on a brave front? The family was relying on Willow to survive. No matter how heartbroken she felt, there was nothing she could do to help Willow.
This feeling of helplessness was too hard to bear.
