Kate's expression changed abruptly. She said softly, "Nath…"
"Mom, I know what you'll say, and I know you'll try to talk some sense into me. I get what you mean."
Their eyes met for a moment. It was followed by a long stretch of silence.

Natalie finally broke the silence. "I can try getting back together with Jeremy for a while. If we manage to forget what happened and become as inseparable as we once were, we'll stay married. If—"
Kate quickly interjected, "I believe you two will be able to love each other like you used to."
