Vivian's gaze flickered slightly.
Looking at Manfred, who was concerned about her, her heart tightened. There were things she couldn't bring herself to say. She shook her head. "I'm fine. It's just that I haven't eaten for over two days, so I feel weak and a bit drained."
In truth, she wasn't hungry at all.
"I'll have someone bring food right away." Manfred immediately stood up and walked toward the door, instructing someone outside to bring food.
As Vivian watched his tall figure standing at the door, her eyes reddened. Her nose tingled, and a wave of reluctance washed over her.
She didn't want to let him go. But deep down, she knew she didn't belong here. The repeated forced departures had been a constant reminder—she didn't belong here.
