Looking at the unfinished breakfast, Skylar felt a wave of loneliness wash over her. Knowing that she saw flying out of Jipsburg today, several people had called to check on her situation.
"Are you scared of being home alone? Why don't you have Charles come stay with you? He's not filming today because of the bad weather," Janine asked over the phone.
"Mom, it's fine. Let him rest at home. He rarely gets a day off. With weather like this, the roads are bound to be congested and unsafe. Everyone should stay home and keep safe," Skylar replied.
Janine didn't push further.
Outside, the wind howled, and rain lashed against the windows. The combination of the loud noises and the gloomy weather made Skylar feel a bit dazed.
