Chapter 6 Are You Single?

So Angie recounted what happened earlier to Caroline. Caroline didn't pay much attention, just saying, "Maybe that person got the wrong place. It's okay, we don't need to bother about it." "That guy looked so fierce," Angie continued, "but he's quite handsome and seems wealthy." Caroline brushed it off, saying, "Forget about him, let's go cook." Meanwhile, Michael's face was even darker than yesterday. Of course, the driver noticed his boss's unusual behavior but didn't dare to ask. Suddenly, Michael let out a cold laugh. "Boss, are we heading home now?" the driver cautiously asked. "Go to the bar I usually visit," Michael took a deep breath and said, "I'm going to find Will." The driver remained silent and increased the speed. Michael glanced at the gift on the seat and suddenly felt ridiculous. Before arriving at the neighborhood, he kept making excuses for that woman - he always believed he misunderstood his wife, and they would eventually live happily together. But reality hit him hard. He never expected his wife to be so audacious, flirting with other men while he was away! The more he thought, the angrier Michael became. He took out his phone and dialed his grandmother's number. "What's wrong?" his grandma asked, "Did you finally reach Caroline? Right?" "Caroline?" Michael was utterly surprised, "You mean, my wife's name is Caroline?" His grandmother found it very odd, "Yes, her name is Caroline. Have you forgotten even her name?" Michael's breath hitched. Caroline... why was his secretary's name the same? Suddenly, Michael felt confused. Could he have misunderstood again? A bad feeling rose in Michael's heart. "Are you sure my wife's name is Caroline?" Michael persisted. "What's wrong with you today? Didn't you reach your wife again? Oh, my God!" his grandmother rolled her eyes, "What's wrong with you?" Michael controlled his surging emotions and hung up the phone directly. Caroline, Caroline... was his secretary actually his wife? Then who was the woman in that room earlier? Michael thought for a moment and opened WeChat. Caroline was happily chatting with her two friends about what happened at work today when she received a message from Michael. Michael: Can I ask you something? Caroline: Boss, do you have any instructions? Michael: Are you married? Caroline's face suddenly changed. Angie curiously leaned over to see. "My God!" Angie exclaimed, "Who is this guy? Why is he suddenly asking about your private life?" Embarrassed, Caroline said, "He's the strict boss I told you about." "He's your boss!" Angie suddenly realized, "But why would he suddenly ask such a private question? Does he secretly like you?" Caroline gave Angie a disdainful look, saying, "Come on, darling, don't make such weird jokes, okay?" Angie gestured, "Quickly ask him why he's asking this question?" So Caroline replied to Michael. Caroline: Boss, this is my private matter, it's not appropriate for you to ask, right? Michael: So, are you single? Jack also approached, couldn't help but sneer, "Is this guy really trying to pursue Caroline?" "Don't talk nonsense," Caroline said, "He must have something to instruct me." "Then how will you answer him?" Jack asked curiously. "What else can I say?" Angie said impatiently, "Caroline's husband, who's been missing for a year, hasn't shown up yet and keeps ignoring her. Caroline being single or not makes no difference." Angie snatched Caroline's phone and typed a string of words directly into the chat box. Caroline, alarmed, grabbed her phone back and said, "Angie, are you crazy?" Angie shrugged, "What do you want?" Caroline said, "Although I've forgotten what my husband looks like, we're still married. It wouldn't be appropriate to tell our boss I'm single." Caroline deleted the message from the chat box directly, but Angie, quick-handed, grabbed her phone back. "Well, in that case, let me send him a message," Angie said with a smirk. Caroline: Boss, I've been married for years. He loves me very much, and we've planned a vacation in the Maldives next week. Caroline widened her eyes as she watched Angie send the message. Caroline wanted to say something, but Angie advised, "If our boss really likes you, seeing this message should make him give up. Why give him a chance?" Meanwhile, Michael, after seeing the message, finally dispelled his doubts. Soon, he smirked again. Just as he thought, Caroline happened to have the same name as his wife. His secretary could never be his wife. After all, she said she had been married for years and was going on vacation with her husband to the Maldives. Thinking of his wife shamelessly cheating on him, Michael almost couldn't control his anger. It seemed that his grandmother had also misjudged the situation. Michael quickly replied to Caroline. Michael: Cancel your vacation. The company will be busier next week. I'll compensate you for the leave when there's a chance. Angie and Jack's expressions were extremely strange at this time. "My God!" Angie exclaimed, "I always thought this guy was trying to pursue Caroline. It turns out he's just thinking if Caroline has more time to devote to work." "I told you," Caroline couldn't help but laugh, "Our boss is simply a demon. He's not the kind of person who indulges in romance. You guys think too much." "I thought there was going to be a show," Jack couldn't help but laugh, "Caroline, you should be more careful when working, or else this guy might make things difficult for you." "I know," Caroline replied. Michael took a deep breath, now considering divorce from his wife. He didn't know what methods this woman used to gain his grandmother's trust, but he couldn't stand idly by. He must divorce her! Once divorced, he would inform his grandmother about this news. Michael had already made up his mind. Michael had never been interested in women, but recent events were beyond his expectations. He never thought that his first marriage would end like this! ... At ten o'clock in the evening, Caroline had finished showering and was ready to go to bed when her phone suddenly rang. Seeing it was her work phone ringing, Caroline couldn't help but curse her luck. Could it be that the boss needed her at this time? It was already ten o'clock at night! Resignedly, Caroline opened her phone, only to find that it was indeed a call from her boss. Cursing the capitalist system in her heart, Caroline quickly put on a smile and answered the phone, "Good evening, boss. Is there something you need?"
