Hayden woke up the next day and opened his eyes to a white ceiling. He got up and glanced around, his brow furrowed. Delia and Otis were sitting by his bedside, their brows surprised to see him awake. Hayden, however, doesn't have much joy; he reaches down and feels his coat pocket; the proposal ring is missing.
