Chapter 287

Matthew was woefully out of shape, the flesh on his back even charred, and he glanced at Serena to make sure she was just inhaling too much smoke and was relieved. The doctor came over quickly and lifted them both onto a stretcher, and Blair didn't have the heart to stay, cursing as he followed into the ambulance. Matthew's back was in such disarray, with pieces of glass sticking out and burns from the fire, that the doctor had to use scissors to cut away the burnt clothing. The fabric and the burnt clothing were completely stuck together, and with such a cut it was inevitable that some flesh and blood would be torn off. Matthew's forehead broke into a cold sweat, and fortunately he was largely unharmed except for his back. Blair was about to continue cursing, but when he saw how badly his back was hurt, he frowned and stopped talking. The doctor also marveled a bit at Matthew's endurance without even screaming. After disposing of the burned tissue, the doctor frowned and spoke with co
