Serena's steps faltered. Drugged? No wonder things got so... intense.
Her face turned red; she might be the only person who had seen Matthew in that state.
The fierceness in his eyes made people tremble, but at the same time, it enticed them towards the abyss.
So, it was because of the drug. She turned around, looking at him; he didn't seem to be lying.
"Is it true?" she asked, though she knew Matthew wouldn't lie. But what if?
Matthew opened the nearby computer and pulled up the surveillance footage from last night.
"Samantha drugged me. "
Indeed, Serena was frightened. She didn't know how to face him now that the misunderstanding was cleared. She sighed in relief; her body wasn't as tense as before.
It was frustrating to think that all of this happened because of her threat to bring Matthew back. If it weren't for that, perhaps nothing would have happened last night. She had walked into the wolf's den.
Seeing Serena's body relax, Matthew's eyes moved slightly, and he lowered his gaze
