Lainey's worries made Winfred chuckle softly.
"You have no confidence in me?"
Lainey shook her head.
She was just worried.
Winfred still couldn't show his true face to the world, and now those people were trying to bring harm to her in order to strike at him. But she couldn't do anything to help.
Lainey felt useless.
"I'm sorry. I'm so useless. I can't help you with anything."
Since being mocked by Linda, Lainey had fallen into a deep state of inferiority.
She realized that she couldn't refute anything Linda had said. She truly couldn't help Winfred with anything.
"Winfred's brow furrowed. "Why would you think that?”
”Linda is right. I can't do anything besides hold you back.”
Lainey said with a lowered head, filled with self-doubt.
She was truly afraid of becoming his Achilles heel, giving the enemy an opportunity to harm him.
That was not what she wanted.
Linda?
Winfred narrowed his eyes. As he pondered, he instantly figured out what Linda had said to Lainey.
