Chapter 11: Go to Have Fun with Me

Winfred was moved by what Lainey had done. “Lainey.” He called and pulled her away from the computer, “If we want plastic surgery, we don’t have to go to all this trouble. I…” Winfred wanted to say that he could afford to open hundreds or thousands of cosmetic surgery hospitals and there was no need for her to work. However, he was interrupted by Lainey before he could finished his words. “Honey, don’t worry. We’ll make it!” “…” The answer evaded Winfred. Looking at Lainey’s serious and solemn face, Winfred did not know how to explain all these to her for a moment. At this time, Rooney called. Looking at the caller ID “Dad” on the screen, Lainey felt the word disgusting for the first time. “Dad.” Lainey restrained her emotions, answered the phone and called out nonchalantly. “Lainey, I heard from Jayda that you went to school today? And had a falling out with her?” Rooney’s voice sounded hypocritical, making Lainey feel even more uncomfortable. “Yes!” Lainey admitted, “I even slapped her, because she talked nonsense to tarnish my reputation at school.” Rooney didn’t seem to expect Lainey to admit it so honestly, so he was somewhat speechless for a moment. Soon, he changed the subject. “I heard the doctors at the hospital say that Winfred has transferred your mother to another sanatorium, hasn’t he? Her condition is unstable, and moving to a new environment might aggravate her condition.” Compared to the fact that Lainey hadn’t been killed by Winfred and that Jayda was beat, Rooney was more concerned about Alena’s whereabouts. There were so many secrets in Alena. Rooney was afraid that his crimes would be revealed if he couldn’t find her soon. Therefore, the purpose of this phone was to get Alena’s whereabouts from Lainey. “It won’t happen. Winfred has transferred Mum to a private sanatorium, and there’s one-to-one care. I’m sure mum will recover soon, don’t worry about it.” Lainey interrupted Rooney directly before he could finish his words. If it was in the past, Lainey would have been grateful that Rooney was so worried about her mother, thinking that this was a sign that her father loved her mother. However, since she had already known that Rooney had hooked up with Estelle long ago, his performances became hypocritical. “How can you talk to me like this? I’m your father! Your mother has been transferred, but I don’t know where she is as her husband. Does that make any sense?” Rooney sounded annoyed on the other end of the line. “Dad, in all the years that Mum’s been in the sanatorium, have you visited her once?” Lainey asked an incisive question. Rooney didn’t know how to respond for a moment. Lainey hung up the phone expressionlessly. “Lainey.” Winfred decided to tell some of Alena’s condition to Lainey first, “The doctors have given a thorough checkup for your mother, and there are some things that I think you should know about.” “What’s that?” For some reason, Lainey was a little scared as she saw Winfred like this. “It’s said that your mum’s condition was aggravated by mistakenly taking medication that would give her mental hyperactivity. Now after that the problem has been identified, your mum will recover soon by adjusting her medication.” “Really?” Hearing that her mother would recover soon, Lainey was so excited that she didn’t even catch the most important information in Winfred’s words. Seeing this, Winfred had to stop here for the time being. Vicente called and asked Winfred to take Lainey back to the Sloan Mansion for dinner. The car steadily stopped in front of the gate of the Sloan Mansion. Lainey was so nervous that she straightened her back all the way, and her hands had long been wet with sweat. Although she had already met Vicente, she was nervous. This time she was going to meet her father-in-law! It was at this time that Lainey truly felt that she had married into a rich family. The Sloan Mansion was a small three-storey majestic house, from which it could be told that the owner was rich and powerful. “Take it easy. Follow me.” Winfred’s low and gentle voice came to Lainey’s ears. She raised her head and happened to look into Winfred’s deep eyes, the firmness and warmth inside making her feel slightly more at ease. Winfred held Lainey’s hand and led her into the Sloan Mansion. “Mr. Sloan, Mrs. Sloan.” The servants were busy preparing the dinner. Vicente wasn’t in the living room. “Where’s my father?” “He said he wasn’t feeling well in the afternoon and went back to his room to rest. He probably hasn’t got up yet.” A servant replied. Winfred frowned. What was Vicente up to this time? “Lainey, take a seat. I’ll go get my father.” Lainey nodded. After Winfred went upstairs, Lainey stayed alone in the living room awkwardly. Those maids were busy and couldn’t accompany her, so she walked outside. It was said that the Sloan Mansion was built about one hundred years ago. In addition to the house, the garden covered a very large area. Lainey took a walk along a stone path and enjoyed herself. Without realizing it, Lainey walked out into the garden. The garden was full of flowers of all colors. It was the season of roses, and there were red, pink and yellow ones, looking wonderful. Lainey came to a red rose and moved up to smell it with a smile. Abruptly, a person suddenly hugged Lainey tightly from behind. “When did such a beautiful maid come here? I didn’t even know! You’re so pretty, why do you come to work as a servant? How about you go with me? I’ll give you a much better life!” “Ah!” Lainey was startled, screamed and struggled to break free from the other party’s grip and turned around. Then she suddenly saw a pair of gloomy eyes! This man was fairly decent-looking, but the ruthlessness in his eyes made Lainey feel dangerous. “Who are you?” “Who am I? Haha! All the servants in this house call me Mr. Sloan.” Blair looked so drunk that he was a bit unsteady on his pins when he spoke. It seemed that he was about to fall at any moment. “My name is Blair.” He added. His surname was Sloan too. So he was Winfred’s family, right? When Lainey was lost in thought for a while, Blair approached her and was about to kiss her on the lips. “Come on! Go and have fun with me. Then you’ll have a good life in the future!” Blair was very sure that Lainey would be grateful and throw herself on him after knowing his identity. However, to his surprise, Lainey pushed him away with great force and dodged. “Damn it! How dare you run away?” Being irritated, Blair came at Lainey once again fiercely. This time Lainey failed to escape. Blair grabbed the hem of her coat and dragged her back forcibly.
