Chapter 4 Bluebell

Some of the haters had even gone so far as to accuse Carolyn of wasting valuable public resources by hogging the healthcare service despite having suffered only a minor injury. The haters even posted photos of Carolyn being seen around town with a certain married man, thereby earning her a reputation as a lowly mistress. Not only that, but some of Carolyn's fans had even expressed their disgust for her and turned into haters. They all accused her of being a fraud who had deceived all of her fans with a false image. Meredith showed the headline to Marjorie and grinned. "She always loved hogging the media's attention, didn't she? Look at this. Now she's gotten the attention she wants, and everyone knows her true colors." Marjorie was a little puzzled by this. It was clear that someone had deliberately done a lot of research on Carolyn before posting this article, but who could it be? "She must've gotten on the wrong foot with someone. Otherwise, this news would never appear out of the blue like this," Marjorie said nonchalantly. This was undoubtedly an astute observation as someone who would go into media in the future. "By the way, what are you up to today?" Meredith asked. "I have an appointment with Blue Ray Films to discuss the voiceover opportunity for their new movie. Then I'm planning to stop by the bookstore. Are you interested in coming with me?" "No, thanks. I have plans for today so I probably can't make it. I actually have to leave now." After Meredith left, Marjorie put on a full face of makeup and slid into a slinky black dress that made her look mysterious and alluring. The movie she was interviewing for was a fantasy film, and the director had already cast all of the major roles in the film save for a witch named the Kind Reaper. The director was searching for someone with a lilted voice with a tinge of hoarseness to it. However, despite auditioning dozens of voice actors, he had yet to find the perfect candidate for the role. All of a sudden, someone recommended a voice actress known as Bluebell and sent him her portfolio. After just one listen, the director immediately instructed his assistant to get in touch with Bluebell. When the assistant finally managed to get through to her, she almost died of pure pleasure at the sound of her melodic voice. The day that Bluebell was supposed to arrive for the audition, the assistant waited for her in the lobby. During her wait, she texted in the group chat, [I'm waiting for Bluebell to arrive.] [I wonder what she looks like. I couldn't find any photos of her on the internet. Do you think she could be hideous, and that's why she hides behind her voice?] [I'm certain it must be the case. If she were a beautiful woman, she would have become an actress by now.] [That's right. If she's so much as one-tenth of Carolyn's beauty, coupled with her voice, she would no doubt be a star by now.] The members of the group chat all began to gossip about Bluebell's appearance. All of a sudden, the assistant, Katie, caught sight of a gorgeous woman in a black dress making her way toward her. Could she be Bluebell? Immediately, she shook her head. It was impossible. She must be auditioning for a movie role, not a voice actress. However, the woman strode toward her and asked, "Hello, do you know where the audition room is?" "It's over there. Just make a left and you will see it. When you see the long line outside the door, you'll know you're in the right place," replied Katie. Then, she could not help muttering under her breath, "The movie auditions are always packed with people, unlike voice auditions." Marjorie had been about to leave when she overheard her and paused. "Miss, I'm here for the voice audition," she said, smiling. Her smile tugged at her stunning blue eyes, lifting the corners of her lips in a beautiful curve. Although Katie was also a woman, she could not help feeling her heart leap into her chest at Marjorie's million-dollar smile. "Are you Bluebell?" Katie asked in disbelief. "I am." Katie was absolutely delighted to hear this. She never thought she would one day encounter a voice actress who was so gorgeous in real life. [I've found Bluebell! Trust me, guys, Carolyn is nothing compared to her.] [You must be kidding!] Just as she was about to reply, Albert came up behind her and gave her a smack across her bum. "Mr. Albert, you should be working right now. What are you doing here? Please play by the company rules, sir," Katie said teasingly. She had always been a flirt, and everyone in the company knew that. "You little mink. You're so beautiful; I'd pull my heart out of my chest for you. Is Bluebell here yet?" Albert crooned, grinning. "She's already in there with Mr. Bohr." Katie snickered. She knew immediately that Albert was just here for Bluebell. Albert and Bohr had never seen eye to eye. This time, Albert had already set his mind on a particular voice actress, but Bohr wanted nothing but the best and instead insisted on searching until he found the perfect candidate. Because of this, the movie was delayed, and in a way, Albert was upset at his income being temporarily halted. "She's already in there?" Albert's expression darkened. He did not think that the bald old geezer would actually be able to get his hands on the famed Bluebell. "Yes, Mr. Albert." The moment Katie finished her sentence, Bohr and Marjorie strode out of the room. "Katie, please draft a contract. I've decided to appoint Bluebell for the role of the Kind Reaper." Bohr had already set his mind on Bluebell within ten minutes of being in the recording studio with her. It was safe to say that Bluebell must have worked her magic. "Mr. Bohr, I think you should consider this again. From what I know, Bluebell has only been here ten minutes. You can't just decide to give such a major role to her within ten minutes of hearing her! I won't allow this!" "Mr. Albert, don't be silly. You're in charge of the casting, whereas I'm in charge of the voiceovers. I have every right to call the shots on which actress I want for the role!" Seeing that the two of them were about to start arguing, Marjorie quickly piped up, "If you question my capabilities, Mr. Albert, feel free to give me a probation period." "No need for that. I was the one who auditioned you, and I know full well that you're perfect for the role," said Bohr. Albert had been so focused on Bohr that he did not even notice Bluebell until she spoke. The moment he laid eyes on her, he could not help gasping. This woman was so beautiful, with chiseled features like an ancient goddess. She was so gorgeous that any woman would falter standing next to her. "You're Bluebell?" Albert reached out and kissed Marjorie's hand. "Yes, Mr. Albert. If you're still doubtful of my capabilities, we can go back into the recording studio to do another round of voiceovers," Marjorie said, frowning. She tried her best to stifle her disgust. "No need. I trust Mr. Bohr's expertise; if he says you're the best, you must be the best." Everyone was astounded by Albert's change in attitude. "By the way, Ms. Bluebell, forgive me for saying this, but I think it's such a waste that you didn't go into acting, with your looks and your perfect voice." Bohr caught sight of the lecherous look on Albert's face and immediately stepped forward to block his view of Marjorie. "Albert, how can you be so superficial? Besides, who makes the rules? What makes you think that an actress has a brighter future than a voice actress?"
