Chapter 10 Vicky Hospitalized

Stephen felt her reaction and held her even more tightly as if he wanted to crush her with his body. "Hey, can you stop?" The man who had been hit just now finally came to his senses. Upon seeing his target being taken away, he walked forward and tried to stop them. Yet, he was just not tall or large enough, so he merely stood there, dumbfounded, as Stephen blocked his way. "Hey, come with me. Why don't we get a drink together?" Ryan led the sleazy man away. The man's frustrated voice woke Marjorie up. She never expected that she would be ensnared by Stephen's desires once again. She viciously pinched Stephen's waist. "Oh, I didn't expect you to bite." Stephen smiled as he relaxed his grip on her body, but he was still holding her in his arms. "Come home with me?" Stephen's cold gaze was on her, waiting for an answer. "That's my home, why would you go back there?" Marjorie turned her head away, trying not to look at him. "Then can I go home with you?" The man's voice was gentle and alluring. Logic told her not to give in, but her emotions had already won over her reasoning. Under his urging, Marjorie was led to Stephen's car. Yet, the moment they got in the car, the man's expression completely changed. "I don't want to see my wife at a bar. Do you understand what I mean?" Sure enough, everything she had felt just now was just a lie. "Stephen, you bastard. Let me go!" Marjorie's face darkened. She felt like she had just been stripped naked and left for the vultures. It felt terrible. "My friend is still at the bar. I need to go get her." "Are you going to the bar for your friend or for that man? I didn't know you had such bad taste. Are you willing to settle for anything?" Stephen's scornful tone hurt her, but she refused to lose. "Yes, I'm going to go look for him. Any man would be more attractive than you." "We're going to get divorced anyway, I don't think you have any right to tell me what to do. It's not like your ass is that clean either." Marjorie saw the red marks around Stephen's neck. There was no way it came from anything else. If you knew, you knew! Stephen could not understand the disgust in her eyes, "You want a divorce so badly?" Marjorie looked at the man's cold face, "Isn't that what you've been wanting for the last two years? Why are you questioning me now?" The atmosphere in the car sank to a new low. Stephen turned to look at her and said, "Then let's get our divorce tomorrow. Be there at 8:30 a.m. sharp. If you're late, I'll leave. My time is precious." "Stop the car." Before Marjorie could react, she was pushed out of the car. The night breeze hit her, and the alcohol she drank earlier caused her to feel a bit dizzy. However, she did not forget what the man said just now. Eight-thirty in the morning, the divorce registry. She finally got what she wanted, but she was not as happy as she expected to be. The next morning, Marjorie woke up especially early. After drinking for the night, her head was hurting. When she got home the night before, she had another drink because she could not fall asleep. Even though she drank, she still remembered to set an alarm before she slept. She did not want to be late. She wanted to bid farewell to the past and welcome a new life. Before going to the divorce registry, Marjorie tried giving Meredith a call, but there was no answer. So, she sent her a message, [How are you? I'm getting divorced today. I'll treat you to lunch later to celebrate my single life.] Marjorie's message was not seen by her friend but by another man. The divorce registry was not opened yet, even though it was 8:20 a.m. It was early in the morning, but there were quite a lot of people. Could they all have had arguments the night before and come for a divorce? As Marjorie was lost in her own thoughts, the doors opened. Everyone rushed inside but in the opposite direction. So they were all there to register their marriage. It was true. Why would they get a divorce so early in the morning? Furthermore, everyone looked quite happy just now. Time passed slowly, and it was already 8:40 a.m. Yet, the man was not there. Apparently, his punctuality only applied when it was anyone else. She wanted him to be punctual to make her wait, not for him to arrive on time. Yet, thinking about how she would finally regain her freedom, Marjorie did not particularly mind. Just when Marjorie was going to curse at Stephen, her phone rang. She looked and found it was Vicky. "Hello, Mommy?" Vicky was not on the other end of the call. "Miss, hello. I'm a doctor from St. Mary Hospital. Mrs. Vicky came in this morning for a check-up, but she fainted. We need you to come over right away." Vicky fainted in the hospital. Marjorie immediately tensed up when she heard that and hurriedly walked outside. She did not even bring the documents she prepared with her, tossing them aside as she left in a hurry. After half an hour, Marjorie arrived at the hospital. Marjorie quickly found out that Vicky was admitted to the third floor. "Mommy, what happened? Why did you suddenly get hospitalized?" Since Marjorie married Stephen, Vicky's health had not been great. She regularly stayed at the hospital, probably due to her old age. "Don't worry, it's nothing serious. I probably fainted because I came for the checkup on an empty stomach. It was probably just low blood sugar." She wiped away the sweat on her face. "Mommy, have you called Stephen?" Vicky shook her head. Even though Stephen was her son, Vicky would always give Marjorie a call whenever something happened. It was not because she could not remember her son's number but because it was hard to get through to him on his phone. After all, he was just too busy having to manage such a large business by himself. Even if he had three heads and six arms, there were still times he could not handle everything. How could he have the time to manage the family? "You look so beautiful today. You should always dress up like this. You never like putting on makeup. Even though you're already pretty, to begin with, you look even more beautiful with some makeup, don't you think so?" Vicky held Marjorie's hand and looked at her lovingly. "Are you meeting someone today?" Marjorie wanted to say that she dressed up so nicely to get divorced, but she could not bring herself to since Vicky looked so weak. "Mommy, why don't I get you something to eat?" "Okay, go ahead!" Marjorie had just left the room when she received a call from Stephen. He sounded like he was holding back his anger as he said, "If you don't want the divorce, then tell me. Why skip out of it even after you agreed to it? Is it fun toying with me?"
