"Mom! I told you I don't like broccoli." Luka cried out.
"It doesn't matter if you don't like Luka; it's healthy, so you'll eat it."
"But it doesn't taste nice!"
Isabella watched him pick up one of the vegetables and hurl it across the table.
"Hey! Don't throw your food," she snapped, her gentle parenting style immediately slipping away.
One thing nobody ever thoroughly explains to you about having children is the tantrum. Luka was in a losing battle after devoting approximately an hour to the task. Her children had different personalities; Luka was more hotheaded, like her. At the same time, Emerald got her father's gentle temperament. Even right then, with all the commotion, she just sat and calmly ate her food. That was another difference between them; Luka was a picky eater, and she was not.
"When's Santa coming again, mama?"
She turned to Emerald with a smile. "Santa only comes on Christmas morning, baby."
"Why can't he just come whenever I want?"
