202 THE TRUE REFLECTION
Luke felt a brief sense of déjà vu as the nurses wheeled the young girl towards the operating room. He knew he'd seen her before, but his brain was doing a very bad job of pinpointing where and when.
Also, there was something in the way her hand fleetingly brushed against his. He'd turned just in time to catch the tiny glimpse of fear and pain in her eyes. Who was she?
Luke couldn't take the curiosity anymore, quickly deciding to follow the gurney and see if one more look at her would affect his memory.
"I'm sorry, sir, but you can't come in here," the nurse stated, firmly planting herself in front of him.
"I'm not trying to get in there; I just need to take a look at her; she looks familiar," Luke explained as he desperately tried to peek behind the sturdy lady.
"Well, I'm sorry, young man, but unlike you, we have a very important job that entails keeping that girl alive, so if you'd excuse me," she said as she walked into the room and immediately closed the door behind her. He s
