A million pinpricks of light began to emerge on the vast expanse of the night sky.
Elodie waited for almost one hour and a half before Jay finally returned. ‘Please come with me.’
Her heart sank when he led her into the living room and not towards the building which housed Giovanna.
‘I talked to her.’ He sounded sincere and slightly apologetic. ‘Asked her about what you told me. She grew upset, started throwing things. I had to give her a sedative. She’s resting now. I’m afraid a meeting’s not possible today.’
‘Tomorrow then?’ Elodie asked hopefully.
Jay shook his head, then offered, ‘I knew both Ray and Madeline well, spent more time with them than my wife did. Perhaps I can shed some light on whatever it is that you wanted to ask Giovanna.’
