‘Thankfully, yes,’ Seth said. ‘No demands for a private jet, no frantic calls to the pilots. Seems he’s finally accepted reality, for now at least.’
Miriam let out a shaky breath that sounded suspiciously like a prayer answered. ‘That’s good news, Seth. Thank goodness.’
A brief silence fell, punctuated only by the distant hum of the building’s air conditioning.
‘When do you think he’ll be done for the day?’ Miriam finally asked. ‘He needs to eat, you know. Can’t run on coffee and worry alone.’
Seth grimaced. ‘Knowing the boss, he’ll probably be here until the cleaners kick him out. There’s a backlog of work a mile long, and he’s not one to delegate when things get messy.’
‘Oh, Dashiell,’ Miriam muttered, her voice laced with exasperation. ‘Alright then, listen up. I’m bringing him dinner myself. Wait, no. There’s… Seth, there’s going to be a girl.
