Chapter 161
Elodie’s mind raced as she listened intently.
Sebastian had been in a coma for such a long time, she’d almost given up hope.
‘Thanks. I’ll be right there,’ Elodie said, ending the call.
Just as she stood up, Ari appeared at the doorway.
‘Hey, ready for lunch?’ he asked, stepping into the office.
Harper gave him a quick smile before slipping away.
‘Sorry, I’ll have to cancel.’ Elodie shut down her computer.
‘Everything alright?’
Elodie quickly briefed him on the call from the hospital.
‘I’ll drive you,’ Ari offered.
‘Thanks. Let’s go.’ Elodie grabbed her coat.
When they arrived, they made their way to Sebastian’s room.
He seemed to have aged a decade, his shrinking figure appearing almost translucent against the white sheets.
His skin stretched thinly over protruding bones, betraying the frailty concealed underneath his formerly arrogant demeanour.
An intricate web of tubes snaked around his sun-deprived arms and chest, connecting to various machines humming quietly in the background.
