‘I could send him off to somewhere he’d never be found,’ Oliver suggested coolly. ‘It’s not a prison, but it’s worse, and he won’t ever escape.’
Elodie’s brow furrowed in confusion. ‘What kind of place is that?’
‘A mine,’ Oliver answered simply.
‘Where is it?’
‘It’s best if you don’t know,’ Oliver replied, avoiding eye contact. ‘Let’s just say it’s not in this country, or even this continent.’
Elodie stared at him for a long moment, trying to read his expression.
But Oliver was a closed book, giving nothing away.
Finally, she nodded. ‘I trust you. Send him there.’
Oliver hesitated before asking his next question. ‘Do you have any idea who’d want you dead? Who’s behind this whole thing?’
Elodie wanted to tell him about the mystery man (or was it a woman?) who’d plotted to kill their parents years ago and was now after her, but she couldn’t even produce a name.
