Gladys unconsciously reached out and patted Alston, cautiously probing, "Daddy, was breakfast tasty?"
Alston felt that Cecilia's daughter was quite annoying. Why did she have so much to say?
Men didn't like lying, yet Alston was unwilling to let Gladys and Cecilia feel triumphant.
So, reluctantly, he nodded and gave Gladys a vague response, "It was alright."
Gladys only noticed Alston nodding and automatically ignored his words.
She bit her lower lip and looked at Alston earnestly, asking, "If it was good, promise me something, okay?"
Alston sneered inwardly. Wasn't this just another attempt to trap him into answering? A three-year-old child, what could she understand? Now she was asking for promises, surely another lesson from Cecilia.
Alston held back his frustration, but since Gladys had too many questions, he thought it better to make her a little afraid of him rather than endlessly answering her inquiries.
