Regina had promised to keep Cecilia in the dark, so Regina waited by the window, hands clasped together, murmuring prayers and waiting for Alston.
Less than half an hour after hanging up the phone, there was a loud rumble, and the ground shook.
Regina was shaken by the sudden upheaval, her face turning pale. She almost stumbled, but thankfully, Hedda, who had been standing beside her, offering her presence, reached out to steady her.
"Mom, are you okay?"
Regina didn't have the mind to answer Hedda's question. Her face was ashen. "What's happening? Where's Susan? Susan!"
