I desperately wanted it to be a dream. I waited for myself to wake up but I never woke because I was already awake. The visuals were so real they stuck to my head. It was the realest thing I had ever seen in my life.
The loud noises that the guns made still resonated loudly at the back of my skull, deafening my ears. Even as we were currently miles away from the place of the gun fire, the sparks that came out of the guns filled the back of my eyelids so every time I closed my eyes, it was what I saw.
All the horrors were what these men go through every day. I saw people die. People who were like me, with their own intricately carved out lives and narratives. With families, with friends with probably wives and children. Even now as we drove back to base. Hours after the fight had ensued, I still felt the shivers I first felt when the glasses shattered from the gunfire of Felix.
