Chapter 14

Andrew's words were spot on. Giselle might not be a professional, but her photography skills were far beyond that of a professional photographer. Numerous anonymous people sought to schedule a photo shoot with her, but whether she agreed or not was subject to her mood. Her ability to be present here today was a clear indication of the overwhelming generosity Andrew had given her. "If everything's good, then I'll call it a day." Giselle lowered her head to power off the camera. "Don't forget to settle the final payment and transfer it directly to my bank account." "Hey!" Andrew sprang up and caught her by the arm. "What's the hurry? We're practically old acquaintances. Let's grab a drink and catch up on old times, shall we?" Giselle couldn't help but burst into laughter. Old acquaintances? She couldn't deny it. When Andrew was Gloria's lapdog, he often sneered and made snide remarks about himself. However, her curiosity was piqued. What could Andrew possibly want to chat with her about? Giselle pushed away his hand and took a seat in the boot,  "Let's not beat around the bush, Andrew. Just spit out what you want to say." Andrew was caught off guard. To his surprise, Giselle had a personality that he hadn't anticipated. He had assumed that she would talk to him in a soft, sweet voice as she did with other men, and then effortlessly climb onto his bed. Andrew chuckled lightly, without any unnecessary words, "Truth be told, I want to chase after you." Giselle raised an eyebrow and crossed her arms, leaning back in her chair casually, "Oh, so you figured out your feelings while eavesdropping on me in the study room last time? And now you dare to steal your cousin's woman?" Lifting his glass, Andrew's smile was full of meaningful implications, "If my cousin hadn't agreed, do you think I would have dared?" Giselle's expression of mirth instantly stiffened. Andrew continued, "As for your relationship with my cousin, I couldn't care less. I'm not the type to be petty and hold grudges." "But I do care!" Giselle hissed through gritted teeth. It was clear that her heart was consumed by a raging inferno, as she stared with seething fury. Unaffected by her anger, Andrew continued to speak nonchalantly. "What's got you so worked up? Is it because you had a fling with my cousin, or is it that I once chased after your sister?" Giselle was momentarily caught off guard but quickly snapped back with frustration, "I care about both things!" Andrew was suddenly overwhelmed with a sense of frustration, "Why torment yourself like this?" He rose from his seat, bracing himself against the table and leaning in to lift Giselle's chin. "Right now, it's obvious that we're the perfect fit for each other." "Perfect fit my a*s!" Giselle exploded, spitting out a curse before storming off. "Giselle," said Andrew casually without looking back, "There's no need to be so devoted to my cousin. He flew to see Gloria on the second day of Grandpa's birthday. He's not worth it." This statement meant that Maverick cared a lot about Gloria. Giselle narrowed her eyes and retorted, "It's none of your business." As she strode toward the door, something suddenly jogged her memory. "Settle the remaining balance, and don't even think about skipping out on the bill." As she walked away, Andrew's eyes remained fixed on her and the smile on his lips gradually faded. He sank back into his seat, grasped the half-empty glass of alcohol, and took a long sip before staring off into the distance.  He suddenly appeared to think of something. Then, a wry smile crept across his face. ...... Giselle left the bar and climbed into her car. Instead of driving straight home, she lingered for a while. Andrew's words echoed incessantly in her mind, refusing to fade away no matter how hard she tried to shake them off. Despite her best efforts to resist, she eventually gave in to the nagging urge to call Maverick. She estimated the time difference and concluded that Maverick would have just awoken. The phone was picked up much quicker than Giselle had imagined. Before she could even gather her thoughts, a deep voice greeted her from the other end of the line. "Anything?" Listening closely, it seemed like he had just woken up. Giselle held her phone and deliberately softened her voice, sounding coquettish. "It's been two days since we've seen each other. I miss you..." Light laughter came through the phone, followed by Maverick's magnetic and sexy voice, "Didn't I satisfy your appetite last time?"
