Chapter 11
When it came to Gloria, Davina was extremely proud.
She didn't boast too much, but her pride was evident in her eyes. "That's right, but this championship is also hard to come by."
The implication was that if Gloria won the championship, it would be a testament to her exceptional talent.
Seeming to agree, Iris also smiled and said, "You don't have to be so modest. Everyone can see Gloria's outstanding abilities. It's your luck to have such a great daughter. Unfortunately, my son, Andrew, is not blessed with that gift."
With a sarcastic tone, even Giselle, who was far away, could hear it.
Andrew had pursued Gloria before, and this was not a secret.
He had always been high-profile, and when he pursued someone, he did it with great fanfare.
Initially, he was captivated by Gloria's performance and was smitten by her at first sight. He pursued her relentlessly with great intensity.
However, not long after, Gloria appeared publicly with Maverick at various events, which was widely known.
Andrew was extremely embarrassed.
Maverick was the nephew of Iris, so she couldn't say anything. However, she felt uncomfortable in her heart.
From childhood to adulthood, Maverick had always been superior to Andrew in every aspect, leaving him in the dust.
Even in pursuing women, Maverick always overshadowed Andrew, which made Iris naturally feel uncomfortable.
Davina pretended not to notice that Iris was unhappy and said with a smile, "When it comes to relationships, it's all about fate. Gloria and he were not meant to be. Andrew is a good-looking and capable young man. He will surely meet someone better in the future."
This comment pleased Iris a lot, and she looked happier. "Yeah, true. Andrew likes girls who dance ballet. When the time comes, perhaps Gloria can help introduce some of her fellow dancers from her troupe."
Davina quickly nodded in agreement.
Just as Daniel and Giselle finished their conversation, he invited everyone to take their seats for dinner.
There was a rectangular table that was five meters long, with Daniel sitting in the main seat.
According to their seniority, the younger generation naturally sat at the back.
As a result, Giselle, Maverick, and Andrew, being of the younger generation, naturally sat together at the far end of the long rectangular table.
Giselle intentionally sat opposite Andrew and noticed that the seat next to him was empty, probably reserved for Maverick.
But the fella still hadn't shown up.
Seeing that, Giselle kept glancing toward the door. Andrew snorted and whispered, "Stop looking. He's on the phone with your sister."
Giselle withdrew her gaze and remained silent.
After a while, Maverick entered the room and glanced at the dining table, feeling annoyed.
He stepped forward and addressed Daniel, "Grandpa, Gloria asked me to convey her wishes to you. May you be blessed with a long and prosperous life."
Daniel remained calm as he nodded and said, "Take a seat and dig in."
Maverick's seat was directly opposite Giselle.
When he walked over, Giselle didn't hold back at all, staring straight at him.
After not seeing him for a few days, she couldn't help but notice that Maverick had become even more charming.
He exuded an air of nobility and restraint that stirred a desire within her. She longed to take him to the Violet Country Villa and indulge in all sorts of pleasures with him.
It was a shame that Maverick didn't even acknowledge her presence, leaving Giselle's stunning expression completely unnoticed.
When it came to acting innocent, no one did it better than Maverick.
Giselle withdrew her gaze and ran her fingers through her hair, with her foot tapping restlessly under the table. Without missing a beat, she slipped off her high-heeled shoe and sensuously ran her fair foot up Maverick's calf.
Maverick's face remained stoic as he lifted his eyes and cast a brief glance in her direction.
The woman sat with her head bowed, sipping her soup with a demure and innocent expression.
Her eyes and eyebrows couldn't help but reveal an overwhelming sense of triumph.
Maverick let out a disdainful grunt. With a stoic expression, he seized the devious foot that had been provoking him, giving it a playful tickle.
"Ah..."
Giselle was extremely sensitive to tickling, and her reflexes took over as she let out an involuntary cry of surprise.
All eyes at the table suddenly turned toward them.
Harrison's face darkened as he felt she had behaved improperly at the dining table, and considered it to be very impolite.
Giselle's foot remained firmly held in Marverick's grasp, and she cautiously attempted to retrieve it, but he stubbornly refused to release it.
"What's going on?" Daniel asked with concern.
