Mariana and Daphne watched with concern as Hailey pushed the lukewarm chips away with a grimace. The enticing aroma of the fast food, once a welcome distraction, now seemed to have the opposite effect.
A wave of nausea washed over Hailey's face, her features twisting in momentary discomfort.
"Here," Daphne said gently, reaching for a glass of water. "Maybe some water will help settle your stomach."
Hailey shook her head weakly, her voice barely a whisper. "No, thanks. The smell..." she trailed off, a wave of nausea replacing her words.
Mariana placed a hand on Hailey's shoulder sympathetically. "It's alright, Hailey. Don't force yourself to eat if you're not feeling well."
Hailey managed a weak smile, her eyes flickering with gratitude. "Thanks, Mariana. I think… I think I just need some fresh air."
