Chapter 97 Into the Abyss
The stench of burnt metal and singed flesh hung heavy in the air of the hangar bay. Cyrus, Elara, and the Harbinger leaned against the smoldering carcass of the monstrous lieutenant, their bodies aching, their breaths ragged. The battle had been brutal, a desperate struggle against an unrelenting swarm. Yet, amidst the exhaustion, a flicker of hope remained. They had survived, and with them, their mission.
"We need to move," the Harbinger rasped, his crimson eyes glinting with a renewed urgency. "The disruption must happen before they recover."
Cyrus nodded, pushing himself to his feet. Glancing around the hangar, he spotted a service hatch leading deeper into the colossal vessel. "That could be our access point."
Elara, ever the pragmatist, examined the hatch with a critical eye. "It's heavily guarded," she warned, pointing to the bio-mechanical creatures flanking the entrance, their metallic bodies twitching with renewed aggression.
