Jason couldn't help but replay in his mind the details of what I had told him about my encounter with Rachel as he drove to work. The memory of our conversation, vivid and raw, played over and over, almost like a movie stuck on a loop. He thought about what could have gone wrong if he hadn't taken the bold and difficult step of confessing to me about his meeting with Rachel at New Haven.
"If I hadn’t told her..." he muttered to himself, gripping the steering wheel a little tighter, his knuckles whitening from the pressure. The thought alone sent a shiver down his spine. "It could have destroyed her trust in me."
He shuddered at the very idea. The bond we shared was something he cherished deeply, a connection built on mutual respect, understanding, and trust. He knew all too well how fragile trust could be, how easily it could be shattered. The potential breach of trust, the idea of losing the solid foundation we had built, weighed heavily on his mind.
