The wind carried the scent of blood and fear as we returned to the heart of the pack. The attack had ended, but the tension lingered in the air like a storm that hadn’t fully passed. Warriors patrolled the perimeter, their expressions grim, their bodies tense. The enemy had retreated, but they had left their mark.
Donald stood beside me, his presence an unshakable force. His golden eyes scanned the area, assessing the damage, but his hand never left mine. It was a silent reassurance, a promise that despite everything, we were in this together.
Elliot approached us, his face set in a hard line. “We’ve confirmed it wasn’t a rogue attack. The enemy knew our movements.”
Donald’s jaw clenched. “Which means we have a traitor.”
