Chapter 1

In a gloomy and dim cell, a steady footstep approached slowly, and finally stopped in front of Sophia Shen. "Say, why did you want to harm the fetus in the Empress's womb?" "I did not," Sophia said as her lips shook, cold sweat trickling down her forehead. An anger flashed across Timothy Xuan's face, his big palms clasped her shoulders, fiercely pressing her flesh and blood, "No? Then why did Veronica fall down the steps?" Sophia's pupils shrank suddenly, bit her lip and said, "I don't know." "You don't know?" Timothy grabbed her hair, glanced at the dense scars on her body then pinched her chin, "But I do! It's because you are so greedy! I have promised you that I will make you a prime minister's wife, but you still want to be the Empress! Sophia, did you honestly think that you're worthy of me?" The man's warm breath brushed past her skin, but Sophia felt the cold and sadness in her heart. It turned out that her five-year vow to fight for him and follow him to death would just result to him asking her if she was worthy of him. Shaking her head vigorously, Timothy's hand was shaken off, and Sophia retained the last trace of her pride. "Timothy, I may not be worthy of you, but is Veronica Feng worthy?" A trace of sadness crept on her firm eyebrows. "I have fought alongside you for many years, how could you doubt me? Meanwhile, that woman just shed a few tears in front of you and you easily believed her?" Hearing this, Timothy's eyes became more and more cold. He sadistically pressed Sophia to the iron nails on her back, and the sharp spikes were driven into the bone instantly as blood flowed. "Believe you? If it wasn't for your order three months ago, Veronica wouldn't have been raped by those men." Sophia's face turned pale as she was slowly losing blood. She snorted, and said weakly, "Even you kill me, my answer is the same !" Three months ago, when they were fighting to overthrow the kingdom, Timothy and the soldiers were weak, and it wasn't the best time to send their troops. She used a trick for him to catch all his enemies, and won the world for him. But she lost his heart completely. She was his adviser who took all the blame for him, but she remained loyal and good. "Do you really think I wouldn't dare kill you?" Timothy asked through gritted teeth, his eyes were red. He once again pressed her body against the iron nail behind her, the flesh and blood pierced through, and she almost suffocated in pain. "I'm not afraid to die!" "You are not afraid of death, but I will torture you and let you live like in the hell!" With a cold snort, Timothy said to the guard at the door, "Come on, pass on my word, Prince Jared has rebelled against me. Ransack his home and cut off his head!" What? Sophia looked at Timothy, her eyes were wide in disbelief. He ordered to kill her master in such a casual way? "Even if you don't believe me, Master Jared is still your brother! How could you kill your brother just because of Veronica?" Was Veronica Feng so important that he was willing to disregard his relationship between monarchs, ministers, and even his brother? "Veronica is the jewel in my eyes and heart. I will kill anyone who dares to hurt her!" As soon as his voice fell, Timothy walked away. In the dark prison, the smell of blood permeated, and Sophia sobbed silently. Veronica was the jewel in his eyes and his heart was vengeful. He would kill anyone who dared hurt her. But why didn't Timothy kill her? She could only hope that it was because she was still a little different in his heart after all.
