Chapter 7
"I don't believe a child should be taken care of by a nanny. A child needs family, someone to love and to care for it."
"Love and care," I laugh while I said the words. "I told you, I hate my sister. Why do you think I'd feel anything less for her child?"
Why indeed?
"It's a baby and everybody loves babies."
I shake my head, "Apparently not my sister or else I wouldn't be here."
Ignoring my statement, he spoke. "The baby's name is Henrique."
I was a bit shocked at the child's name. My sister might have had some emotions after all.
"She names him after our father."
Henrique Messi wasn't our biological father, but he had been the best father anyone could ever ask for. He had taught us to do everything. From learning to ride a bicycle to cooking. He had also taught how to live our life to please not yourself but others, but I guess my sister had missed that lecture because everything she did was for herself.
I bet she left the baby in that office to continue her life as a model.
"You'll have to stay packing, the sooner you're done, the sooner we leave."
"Where do you live?"
"I live in Los Angeles, so we'll have to take a plane. Do you have a passport?"
"Yes, I do," I answered. "But you live so far from here. I can't bring so many things on a plane."
"Then don't."
"But these are all my things and I want them." I need them.
"I'll have the others transported down there."
"How?"
He looked at me annoyed. "I'm a billionaire, remember? It's possible."
"Why would you even transfer my things down there if it's only until you find my sister?"
"Woman! Make up your mind with what you want to do but for now, you only need the necessities. Anything else can wait."
"Gush, I'll just take two suitcases then. I think that's the most I can have."
"Carry as much as you want, it's a private jet no please hurry up. I have my work to get back to. The sooner we get to California, the sooner my life continues. Searching for you or your sister said has taken up a lot of my time."
I didn't know what to say so I stood up from the sofa and walked to my room. When I closed the door behind me, I rested my head on the wall.
Was this really the best decision to make?
.......................
"Ms. Bisson it's time to wake up, the jet has landed."
I groan, ignoring the voice.
"Ms. Bisson, the jet landed thirty minutes ago, Mr. Carter has been waiting for you in his car." The words speaker registered in my brain. I wasn't at work, I wasn't home. I was on a jet and I had fallen asleep.
I opened my eyes, but I could barely see anything good because the glasses weren't fixed properly on my face. I took off the glasses and rub my eyes. After I finished I looked up at the air hostess, she wasn't happy at all.
I mumbled a sorry and took of the seat beat then stand from the comfortable chair, but because of my muscles were stiff, I crumbled back down.
"Are you okay, Ms. Bisson?"
"Yea, I am. Just give me a second." I stretched out my right foot then lift. Holding on to the chair above me, I stand up without any problems. I quickly walk to the exit, knowing that Mr. Carter is not going to be too pleased.
I walked down the step of the private jet. This was different for me. I've always flown commercial and we'd always have to walk through the connected pathway straight to the airport. But this was different. We were at an airport by the look of the place but there were only small plans and jets there. I guess this airport was a private one for domestic flights.
A black Mercedes was waiting at the side of the jet. The windows were down so I could see the light brown eyes staring back at me. I quickly walked to the passenger side and entered.
"I'm sorry, I was really exhausted after all that packing." Ignoring me, he pressed the startup button and the car came to live. He pressed the radio button and music started to shoot through the speakers.
I was looking for the seatbelt when I felt something wet on my ears. I turned around to see my Golden Retriever.
"Hey, buddy. You scared me. You okay?"
Grey used his tongue and licked me on my face. I laughed, "Okay boy, you need to behave. Mama has to but on her seatbelt." I turned my attention to my side, I picked up the seatbelt locking it securely.
When Mr. Carter noticed this, he started to drive.
Grey wasn't a big fan of moving cars, so he moved away from me and sat quietly in the back.
I stared out the tinted windows of the Mercedes because I had nothing else to do and it is, after all, my first time in Los Angeles.
We passed a sign which said, 'Welcome to Bel-Air'. As we continued to drive I admire my surrounding. The place was beautiful, everything we passed had rich written all over it. As we drove further into the city, the house just got bigger and bigger. I could help admire it all.
This was a lot of everybody's dream, to live in a nice big beautiful house but not everybody can afford to live in such a high pricing community.
Mr. Carter turn the car onto a road but there was no more house in sight, just tall trees. We drove in the secluded area for a few more minutes until I started to see a beautiful mansion. It was cream coloured and huge.
As we drove closer I saw the mansion for what it was. Beautiful high arched gable windows, with balconies at what it seemed like, was each room.
