Chapter 47

　　Serena's POV. 　　"How did you end up here?" Ross asked, his eyes wide with surprise and concern. 　　I hesitated, not wanting to reveal Penny's involvement or what she had done to me. I didn't want to use their influence on Penny, knowing Penny would surely find her way to revenge. 　　"I was just... um... walking and I tripped on something," I said, trying to sound nonchalant. 　　Ross raised an eyebrow, his expression skeptical. 　　"Give me a better lie, Serena," he said, his voice tinged with disgust. 　　I looked away, feeling a flush rise to my cheeks. Ross grabbed my face, his fingers gentle but firm, and forced me to meet his gaze. 　　"You don't need to be scared, Serena," he said, his eyes burning with intensity. "If anyone should be scared, it's the one who did this to you." 　　I didn't respond, instead asking, "What about Richard? Is he still at the pack house?" My voice was laced with concern, and Ross's expression softened slightly. 　　"Yes, he's still at the pack house," Ross replied
