Serena’s PoV
I thought about what Zone had said about the curse and we all decided to fan out to look for the source. Every step seemed like a march towards the unknown. Zone led the way while Ardan stayed close to my side. I walked faster, cause I didn’t want him to sense I was pregnant.
The only sound one could hear was coming from the crunch of leaves beneath our boots. The forest was so quiet.
“We’re close,” Zone said in a low tone.
“How can you tell?” I asked, keeping my voice hushed.
Zone gestured to a cluster of withered plants nearby. “The further we go, the more the magic corrupts the area. Look at the trees—dead, but not decayed. It’s like the life was drained out of them.”
A shiver ran down my spine. The remnants of Gloria’s magic were everywhere. It was like a dark stain on the land.
