Chapter 6: You Are Doomed
Harper stared into Benjamin's deep and cold eyes.
The atmosphere grew increasingly ambiguous.
"If I speak as an ex-girlfriend, would you consider my advice?" Harper took a step closer to Benjamin.
Benjamin sneered, "Did I give you permission?"
He placed his hand on the stable door, his voice cold, "Excuse me."
Harper's lips curled into a light smile, and she stepped back to give way.
Benjamin opened the door and skillfully led the horse out of the stable.
Harper's heart fluttered as she watched Benjamin's tall figure.
"Benjamin, you haven't forgotten our past.
"Your anger proves that I'm still in your heart," she mused to herself.
...
Sophia changed into her equestrian attire and boots and walked out of the women's locker room.
Charlotte was in the mirror, adjusting her clothing, ready to wear protective gear.
Sophia didn't want to be alone with Charlotte, so she grabbed her gloves and helmet and was about to leave.
"Stop." Charlotte stopped Sophia, her attitude as arrogant as ever, "Are you blind or mute? Don't you know any manners?"
Sophia knew she couldn't cause any more trouble today as she had upset Carter.
Biting her lip, she turned to approach Charlotte, "Sis..."
Slap.
Charlotte slapped Sophia hard, the echo of the slap resounding in the locker room.
Other club members changing their clothes all looked over.
Sophia raised her hand, disbelief written all over her face as she clutched her cheek.
Seeing Sophia's beautiful and shocked face, Charlotte spoke venomously, "Didn't I tell you not to call me sis outside? You don't have the right."
Sophia flicked her tongue against the stinging spot on her cheek. Her bright eyes shimmered with a fierce glare.
"Would you dare say that in front of Dad?"
Charlotte grabbed Sophia's collar, "How dare you talk back to me?
"Do you think your life has changed just because you've been Mrs. Taylor for three years?
"Never forget, your mother was a prostitute!"
Sophia suddenly grabbed Charlotte's ponytail.
Charlotte groaned in pain and screamed, "Sophia!"
To save her hair, Charlotte had no choice but to let go of Sophia's collar and pry Sophia's hand off her hair.
Sophia had pulled quite hard on Charlotte's hair. A small tuft of it remained in her hand.
"Are you crazy?!"
Charlotte couldn't believe that Sophia dared to retaliate. No matter how much she used to humiliate and mock Sophia, she never talked back.
What was wrong with her today?!
Sophia coldly threw the hair from her hand and dusted off her hands as if Charlotte's hair was something filthy.
"Don't make a scene here, Charlotte. Do you not care about your noble lady image anymore?"
Charlotte was taken aback and glanced at the club members who were watching them.
With a cold huff, Charlotte said, "Sophia, you're doomed!"
With that, Charlotte forcefully bumped into Sophia's shoulder and strode out.
Sophia sighed and walked to the mirror to check her cheek.
Fortunately, Charlotte's slap was more of a warning than a real effort. A bit of concealer should cover the slap mark.
When Sophia arrived at the riding field, the entire family was waiting for her.
Carter's face was gloomy, but he didn't say anything to Sophia because of Benjamin and just glared at her instead.
Carter got on a horse with Harper and the two of them leisurely rode away.
Owen and Charlotte exchanged glances and silently followed.
Benjamin led his horse over to Sophia, examining her with a penetrating gaze.
"What happened to your face?"
