Chapter 39
Izaak left the Brown’s duplex apartment with a straight back as if he was never coming back. He drove back to their garden villa. He maneuvered along the curved lane into the manor and stopped in front of the house.
Without getting out of the car, Izaak took out his metal lighter. It crackled, and he lit up a cigarette in its flame.
He stepped out of the car and leaned his body on his car, one hand inside his pocket and the other serving the cigarette to his mouth.
His dark eyes looked up at the window to the bedroom, which was dimly lit. It looked cozy and warm from the outside. He knew Gabriella couldn’t sleep either, just like him.
They were like two hedgehogs, eager to embrace each other to take in the warmth but soaked in each other’s blood from the stab wounds they were giving each other.
He wondered for how long they could embrace each other like that. He stayed outside long enough, staring blankly at their house while smoking.
When the morning sun came, Izaak left the villa bef
