Chapter 54: Did They Have to Get So into Character?
The hospital was as quiet as a mouse at night. Chase got Eliana checked in and then they rolled into the exam room.
The doc, a young dude with a mask covering his mug, listened to Chase explained the situation. Then he wrote them up for a tetanus shot, stat.
Chase's brows furrowed, and he got all serious. "Aren't we gonna tackle her foot first?"
The doc paused, pointing at the exam table. "Take a seat, roll up your jeans."
Eliana hobbled over and plopped down. Chase didn't miss a beat, rolling up her pant leg, smudging the blood oozing from the wound.
"Back it up," said the doc, pulling out the antiseptic.
Chase stepped aside as the doc gave a quick once-over and splashed some disinfectant on the wound.
It was like being pricked by a hundred pins. Eliana gasped, eyes welling up.
Chase's eyes got all stormy, his face turning to thunder. "Can't you go easy?"
The doc shot back, "Gotta clean it good, or it'll get infected."
