Chapter 14: Don't Get Any Bad Ideas!

Chase was startled. He thought Eliana must be sleeping upstairs, so he felt safe to come out naked. He didn't expect her to come downstairs and catch him! Hurrying over to the sofa, he grabbed his pajamas and started putting them on while warning her, "Why are you walking so quietly? Close your eyes and stop peeking!" "This is my house.Don’t run out without clothes in my house! You pervert!" Eliana stomped her foot. Living with a man was indeed troublesome! After Chase put on his pants, he hastily buttoned up his shirt. "I forgot to grab my pajamas. I didn't mean it, okay? Stop making me feel like I am a flasher." Normally, the household staff would have his clothes ready in the bathroom. He didn't usually need to do it himself, so he forgot. Eliana was about to scream, "There are towels inside. Couldn't you cover up before coming out?" "Your towels are so small, they wouldn't cover much." Chase said with a stern face. He really needed to consider moving to a bigger house. Sharing the same bathroom might be the most awkward thing in his life. Eliana dropped her hand, her heartbeat still not normal, her ears still ringing. She remembered what her uncle had said earlier. Was he on purpose? Otherwise, how could it be such a coincidence that she saw him as soon as she came down? Her face, which had just cooled down, instantly heated up again. "Chase, I warn you, don't get any bad ideas!" Chase's chest heaved, his eyes dark. "You think I'm trying to seduce you? There are plenty of ways to earn extra money, and I wouldn't choose the one you're thinking of." Heh, she saw through him. He felt guilty! Eliana refused to back down, scoffing, "Even if you wanted to, I wouldn't give you the chance. Just finish these three months and then get lost. Don't even think about anything else!" "If you're not interested, why are you blushing all the time?" Chase sneered. Her face went from pale to bright red, redder than a boiled shrimp. Eliana had never lost in a quarrel. She instantly geared up for combat, retorting, "I know your type, the muscles are just for show. You would finish it in two minutes! You fast man!" Chase's face instantly darkened. He had never seen a woman like her before - bold, wild, and unrestrained! If his grandfather knew that the granddaughter-in-law he had chosen was like this, would he pity his grandson? Seeing Chase was speechless, Eliana smiled triumphantly at Chase's sullen face, then happily turned around and went upstairs, locking the door behind her when she got back to her room. There was nothing more satisfying than winning an argument. She lied in her bed, totally forgot about being hungry, and slept soundly. The next day, Eliana slept so well that she completely forgot about the accident last night. When she came downstairs, she saw a table full of breakfast, ranging from American to English classics like bacon and beans. Oh, Uncle Colin. You’re an angel; he knew she hadn't eaten well last night, so he prepared a feast for her today. After freshening up, she sat at the table and enjoyed a bowl of oatmeal, feeling warmth spread throughout her body. The kitchen door opened, and a cheerful voice came in, "The milk is heated. You can drink it now... Mrs. Wilkinson?" In front of her stood Stephan wearing an apron, holding a cup of hot milk, his smile even warmer than her uncle's. Eliana looked at him puzzled. "Are you also working as Chase's nanny part-time?" Stephan's heart skipped a beat. If he reveal his identity a little, Mr. Wilkinson would have treated him like a punching bag. "Yes, when Mr. Wilkinson is competing, I take care of his daily life, so I'm used to it." It’s a normal thing that athletes often had personal assistants accompanying them. "You've been with him for many years?" "Almost six or seven years." He had been with Mr. Wilkinson since he started working. Stephan placed the heated milk in front of Eliana and went back to the kitchen to heat another cup. Eliana had hoped to eat quickly to avoid running into Chase. She had barely taken a few bites of bacon when she heard the door opening. Chase walked in, dressed in a sleek tracksuit, his eyes meeting hers unavoidably. The air seemed to freeze momentarily as Chase brushed his hair back, revealing his forehead and his penetrating gaze. Eliana never doubted the aura around him; it was the confidence accumulated from years of boxing, she supposed. Because she had her small victory the night before, she continued eating her breakfast in high spirits. Chase grabbed some clothes and headed for the bathroom, completely ignoring her presence. He found it difficult to engage in verbal sparring with a woman, and he dreaded the possibility of her saying something remarkable again. Eliana's phone rang. She answered it upon seeing Lyn's name on the caller ID. "Lena, there's a classmate gathering tonight. They're all mocking you in the group chat for not daring to show up. I gave those big mouths a piece of my mind!" It was her childhood friend Lyn, who had been her classmate from middle school to college. In the past, Eliana and Jeremy had a good relationship, and she had taken him to several gatherings. His status had attracted quite a bit of attention from their classmates. Now, hearing about her breakup with Jeremy, they would surely take the opportunity to gossip. Eliana calmly ate her vegetable omelet. "Who said I'm not going? Not going will only make them more arrogant." "Alright, I'll go with you tonight and make those bitches regret," Lyn replied with a snort. "See you tonight." After hanging up, Eliana finished her omelet and prepared to go to work. Chase had just come out of the bathroom, wearing pajamas that displayed his toned chest, exuding a casual yet tense aura. He casually dried his hair and sat beside Eliana for breakfast. The memories of last night flooded Eliana's mind, making her heart race and her cheeks and ears flush with heat. "Could you please stop replaying last night's images in your mind over and over?" Chase said, as if he could read her thoughts. "What? Why would I keep replaying? I've got guys practically lining up to get my attention!" Eliana feigned calmness as she took a sip of hot milk, only to hear Chase's deep voice beside her, "You're drinking from my cup." Eliana choked, nearly spitting out her drink. She forced herself to respond, "In this house, all the cups are mine." With that, feeling a tad guilty, she grabbed her briefcase and hurried out. Chase chuckled as he watched her leave, amused by her obliviousness to his teasing and her continued fixation on last night's events. "Mr. Wilkinson, I heard Mrs. Wilkinson lost three deals with the Wilkinson family subsidiary. If you speak up, Jeremy won't dare to bother Mrs. Wilkinson anymore," Stephan remarked, recalling their tense encounter earlier. Reflecting on the incident at the racetrack, Chase hadn't directly confronted Jeremy but had instead let him leave . "Confronting Jeremy directly would've raised suspicions. We'll stick to the plan; there's no need to reveal our hand just yet," he explained.
