It was late, and the air was heavy with moisture when Morgan returned, weary from his journey. Joey didn't know how to describe how she felt when she opened the door and saw him. She wasn't even in time to hide the worry on her face.
Morgan could tell she'd opened the door in a panic. Her worry was written all over her face, and her hair was mussed. She was only in her pajamas; she hadn't had time to throw anything else on. If not for her hair falling to her waist and covering her chest, he would've seen everything.
Joey was only briefly taken aback before regaining her composure. "It's you?"
She'd genuinely thought Jackson had been sent home because he was unable to fall asleep. After all, it was his first time being away from her and sleeping alone at the Hooper residence. She'd been worried Gabriel had been unable to coax him and put him to sleep. That was why she'd run out in such a frenzy.
