Joanne stepped forward to take a closer look at the young ladies. After making sure their conditions were stable, she turned to seek out Karen. However, the latter had vanished. The nosy crowd who had gathered in the halls now dispersed, continuing with their day-to-day. No one noticed where Karen had slipped off to. "Damn it, she must have gotten away!" Joanne cursed in annoyance, confident that the food poisoning incident was premeditated. "Where did she go?" Wayne growled. He was already furious that Karen and her friends had delayed his and Joanne's plans to get their marriage license. It infuriated him even more that they nearly got Joanne into trouble. He would not let Karen get away so easily. Joshua had been quiet all this time so he could keep a close eye on Karen. Sure enough, she had tried to run when the police showed up.
