Chapter 422
The Hoopers were a renowned, prestigious family whose influence was on par with the Newmans. Joey and Queenie came from an ordinary background, and any connection they had with the rich and powerful Hoopers was through their mother.
Queenie was not eager to reunite with them so quickly, and she believed Joey would share the same sentiment. They didn't want to come off as desperate sycophants.
"Besides, I've met Yasmin. Joey and I couldn't be more different from her," Queenie muttered, well aware that she and Yasmin were not in the same league at all.
Yasmin had more sophistication and social graces than Joey and Queenie combined.
Joshua knew Queenie's lack of self-worth was a result of her family and upbringing. It was hard for her and Joey to heal from the kind of trauma Hanson had caused them. If anyone should be blamed, it was him.
"Are you worried the Hoopers would look down on you?" Joshua understood Queenie well enough to know where her unease lay and the reasons behind it.
