When had Joshua ever said no to Queenie's request?
"Sure. I'll agree to whatever you want unconditionally," he said.
"We can't argue in the future. I want us to speak our minds, no matter what it is. We have to resolve whatever problems we face on that very day—I don't want to drag anything out overnight!" Queenie didn't want their marriage to be as awful as the ones she'd witnessed.
As Joey said, the Atkinsons had unfortunate marriages, but Queenie had gotten lucky in that respect. She hoped the latter would always be that happy.
Queenie's request was perfectly reasonable. Joshua was glad to comply.
