Chapter 401
Since Henry and Joshua were at an impasse, the former didn't want to linger. He didn't want Joshua to give him an aneurysm.
"Fine, then. I can tell you're serious about this woman." Henry took a sip of his coffee. "Since you've already decided and your grandfather doesn't object, I don't have anything else to say."
Joshua would think it normal if Henry were to get mad again and forbid him from being with Queenie. The fact that he'd suddenly relented and even sounded relieved made Joshua put his guard up.
"You'd better not have anything to say. Mom died when I was three; as her son, I was supposed to protect her. However, I wasn't capable at the time.
"Things are different now, though. Queenie is my wife and the woman I want to spend the rest of my life with. If anyone dares touch her, I'll go head-to-head with them!"
Joshua's words were already as toned down as he could manage, but Henry could still catch the threat in them. His expression darkened.
