Queenie trailed behind Joanne to a lounge on the 8th floor, where two elegant cocktail dresses hung neatly. One makeup artist was waiting, ready to work their magic.
"I'm all set," Joanne announced cheerfully.
"Now, you sit down and let the makeup artist make you look fabulous," Joanne said enthusiastically as she pulled Queenie to the vanity.
Queenie sprang up from the chair like she'd been stung. "I don't do makeup, and you know that. Besides, you're the one with the date tonight. I'm perfectly fine as I am."
Joanne gently but insistently nudged Queenie back into the chair. "You can't just waltz in like that. These events require proper attire. It's about respect."
Before Queenie could protest further, Joanne gave the nod, and the makeup artist began working. With practiced ease, the artist quickly transformed Queenie's natural beauty into something radiant.
