Chapter 34
Jeremy's words always carried weight with Joshua, so when he suggested avoiding people like Stacy, Joshua immediately looked up at him.
"Are you saying I should give up on Queenie?"
Joshua's tone and expression remained calm. Even after a decade of working for him, Jeremy sometimes found it hard to read Joshua's thoughts and didn't want to overstep.
Joshua understood Jeremy's concern and the reasoning behind his advice but didn't entirely agree with it.
"Jeremy, you've been with me through a lot over the years. I know how nasty people like Stacy can be, and I've seen firsthand how she treats Queenie."
Joshua recalled the incident at the police station where Stacy brazenly threatened Queenie. Her blatant audacity showed she feared nothing when it came to Queenie.
"I get that you're worried Queenie might have picked up some of Stacy's bad habits from living with her for so long, even though she's not her biological daughter," Joshua said, reflecting on Queenie's recent behavior.
