Weightless… Floating… Like a cloud, I drifted like mist in the air, hovering over…
I saw my father.
He covered the nine-year-old Asher's mouth and hid behind the curtain. He was watching Magnus with a gleam in his eyes.
My father was enjoying watching the king suffer.
How could that be so cruel!?
No, that was him. I turned to look for the nine-year-old me.
The nine-year-old me kept struggling, but Vadon just grasped "my" arms tightly.
King Magnus was lying in bed—poisoned like I'd seen in my dreams over and over again. He couldn't move. His lips were shriveled, and his body was paralyzed.
"Magnus!" Krisha cried, running to his side. "What's wrong with you?"
