What did the bad news mean for my bar? What about Dahlia? She was my best friend and, honestly, the last friend I had left from my old life. I couldn't lose her. Hadn't I lost enough in life as it was?
I had been through Hell and back, and yet there was still more for life to dish out to me. It wasn't fair. It wasn't to me, or to Adriano, or to Dahlia, or to my old man. None of us had asked for this life, and yet here we all were, drowning in the endless sea of suffering. But maybe a part of life was falling and tumbling down a hill only to get back up, brush yourself off, and find a new way up the same hill until you succeeded.
At least we were trying.
I had just signed a partnership agreement to protect my bar, and yet now I was hearing it was in pieces. I didn't know if the bar could rise from them like I had, but maybe I could make it happen.
